Wild Animal Park

So we spent Rease's actual birthday in San Diego and stayed in a great hotel (thanks Gayle!)
We decided to celebrate the 1 year old's day by taking her to the wild animal park. Neither of us had ever been and were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked it - and Rease loved it!

We took a "Tour into Africa" and saw lots of cool animals - zebras, rhinos, giraffes, lions...

Our favorite was the "Birds in Flight" show we went to - mostly because Rease was so into it and we loved watching her get so excited.

This owl was coming straight at us to land on the perch that happened to be right above our heads - it was amazing.
Giving her approval of the show.
On the way out we stopped in to pet the deer and Rease even got up close and personal with them.
A great 1 year old day!

Happy Birthday Rease!

We celebrated Rease's 1st birthday this past weekend. We were in San Diego (pictures to come) for her actual birthday, so we had a little family party when we got home and let Rease have her birthday cake.

Knows this is usually against the rules...

but digs right in as soon as she sees that mom is okay with it.

Now both hands.

Making sure she has frosting on every inch of her face...

Washing up before we open presents.

Trying out the new headscarf and bib that Grandma Losee made.

And a great new toy to walk behind (and make mom crazy with the constant music coming from it.)

Proud parents of a one year old!

Curler Craziness

Being Sunday Natalie and I looked for an excuse to force Rease to look more grown up while at the same time amusing ourselves. These first two shots were early this morning after her bath, just consider it a trial run.

No surprise to Natalie or I, Rease has no problem being pampered.

The finsished product didn't look quite right but we knew we'd have another crack at it after naptime. As you can tell by the next set of photos this was no dress rehearsal, it was time for church and someone was ready for the pampering of her life.

The rosey red cheeks are a product of sleeping on her face with her bum in the air.

I couldn't get the chapstick out of her mouth and get a good picture at the same time so I just gave up and let her have it.

There you have it, the final product. I don't know about you but I think it makes her look a couple months older. I have a feeling this one will much rather play in Mom's makeup than with Dad outside in the dirt.

A curious moment

We are noticing a curious side of Rease now since she has become more mobile. Our goal this weekend is to Rease-proof the house.
I love this look - "What did I do?"

Weekend at the Cabin

I am very late putting these pictures up, but decided that it's better late than never. A few weeks ago, Chad graduated from BYU and we spent the weekend together at the cabin celebrating his graduation and a late Easter.

Rease loves her aunt Hayley!

The Easter bunny found us at the cabin and dropped off toys and candy for the kids.

And of course, for the adults, we had the big easter egg hunt (we're so excited because the eggs are filled with money! It's the big event of the year!)

It ends up being a very serious competition...

In the end, I think Josh and I took home the most - Yeah!

We had such a fun time and love spending time with the family!

Just standing around...

Just a few pictures of Rease trying her best to walk. She stands up to and walks around anything and everything to be able to get where she wants to go. She is getting pretty good!

We spent Sunday afternoon with Josh's family and snapped a quick picture before everyone headed for home - we had a good time and got to meet a couple of new girls too!
