Rhen's jellyfish essay

Rhen has been working really hard on her writing this year in school.  She wrote this essay about jellyfish and it shows how well she has gotten with writing and penmanship.  Proud of this girl!

Ski lessons

Ski lessons have officially started this year!  The girls are excited as always and this year we put Keen and Liev in lessons as well.  The kids have been talking about skiing for weeks now and it's finally here!  And since all the kids are going to be skiing, I figured that this year was a good a time as any for me to get back into it.  So I will be joining my family on the slopes and it's going to be great!

Keen and Liev had a blast their first week of lessons.  They got to ride on the magic carpet and get acquainted with all their gear.  They are going to have such a great year!

 The girls have full day lessons this year and they have gotten so good!  They both speed down the mountain and love it so much.  I took a class the first week too and our classes happened to meet up at the chair lift so I got to ride up with the girls for one run.  Such fun girls that love to ski!

 Last weekend we were lucky enough to stay in one of the cabins right near the base of the mountain.  Josh's aunt has a connection with the owner of the cabin and they let us rent it out for the weekend for super cheap.  It was so so fun!  

 The best part about the cabin is that you can literally ski right to the front door.  It was a perfect time to get it since the kids had lessons early Saturday morning and we were able to get up and ski right down the hill to their class.  It was awesome!

 We loved making a big fire to warm up to whenever we took a break from skiing.

 Saturday morning we were all ready to head out the door and ski.  

 And this was one run we all took together Saturday afternoon.  We had such a fun weekend staying in the cabin and look forward to so many more days of skiing ahead this winter!

Beck's mustache

Beck obviously stole a drink of my blackberry shake.  Can't hide it from me buddy!

Cereal time

Beck loves to look at the cereal box when he's eating breakfast.  Today he made a fort of all the boxes and had his own private cubby to eat in.  Such a funny boy!

Rolling over

Desh is an expert roller now.  Of course he can't sit still while I'm changing his diaper either so... Here's his cute buns!

Ninja ready

Beck decided that he wanted all the swords in his back so he could be a ninja.  You never can be too prepared I guess...

Sick

Man we have been sick!  The flu got to our house and stuck around for a while.  The kids all got it and then some got it for a second time before it was finally gone.  At one point we had 4 of the 6 kids home throwing up.  We just sat around a watched tv and drank a lot of gatorade and hoped for the end to come soon!

So much snow!

We have gotten so much snow the past couple weeks and this morning we woke up to another foot of new snow.  The kids' ski lessons got cancelled today because the canyon was closed from all the snow, so we stayed home and built a mega snowman.  The kids loved being in the snow and it was a perfect day to be outside in it!

Then since we were all bundled up, I took the older kids to a big sledding hill and spent a couple hours there.  It was a blast!  I haven't been sledding in such a long time, but we had the best time.  It was a great day in the snow!

Sleeping...and drooling

Now that Desh can roll over, he likes to sleep on his tummy.  I can't get over those cheeks!  And that pile of drool that he's sleeping in.  Oh what a boy!

Rease's glasses

Rease came downstairs the other day and had these glasses on.  When I asked her where she got them she told me that she popped the lenses out of some sunglasses she had and wanted to wear them to school.  These are her exact words, "mom everyone at school is wearing them."  Wow I didn't know I would start hearing that so soon.  Anyway, she's been wearing them ever since and I guess it's ok?  She does look really cute in them!

Rhen's farmbook

Rhen still loves to color and draw and has learned to love to write too.  She made this darling book about farm animals.  I love all the details in her pictures and her good penmanship!

The triplets birthday

The triplets just turned 3 this week and Hayley had this darling party for them.  She had a real live Ariel come over and surprise the girls for their birthdays.  She face painted for all the kids and then had a little crowning ceremony for each of the triplets before she left.  It was so cute and fun and the kids had a blast with the face paint.  Happy birthday girls!

Liev's writing

Liev just learned how to write his last name and has been practicing it all over the place!  

He also has been really working on writing and sounding out letters to make words.  I love this stage of kids writing things just how they sound.  Liev loves being in kindergarten this year!

Desh and the bullet

The boys all got nerf guns for Christmas this year and it has been a war zone at our house ever since.  Poor Desh got caught in the crossfire and took a bullet straight to his noggin.  He was pretty sad and it left a good sized welt.  Someday he'll get those boys back.  For now, he's just the youngest.

Josh's Birthday

One of these years I'm going to give Josh an awesome birthday.  One that's not thrown together at the last minute.  One with a cake that looks halfway normal.  And one that has candles that show his actual age.  Up to this point, this is how his birthdays have turned out.  It has nothing to do with how I feel about him as a husband/dad/best friend but more to do with the exhaustion level I'm at after a week of Christmasing and partying.  I love him more than I can even say - just don't judge it by the way his birthdays look!  Happy 38th birthday my love!  We are crazy about you!
