Helping at Papa's office - Rease

Rease loves going to Papa's office and helping out whenever she can. This particular day that I was working, Grammie and daddy also had their teeth done, so naturally Rease wanted to help out. She got her gloves on, grabbed a mirror and got to work.
She did a great job! Dental hygienist in a plaid skirt? Looking good!

Playing outside

Our girls love playing outside, especially since the weather has been so nice lately. Almost everyday when I get home from work I see them outside with friends, on the bike or whatever else they find to play with. Rease has just learned how to ride her bigwheel and Rhen is usually following right behind her waiting for her turn. Here are a few pics of them and their outdoor adventures.
Rhen is a crazy one and is always running after or toward anything. She could beat Rease in a footrace I'm pretty sure.
Rhen also loves playing with rocks. She tries to eat them whenever she has the chance but has figured out that they are "yucky." She does try to feed them to the dogs though thinking they'll like them even though she doesn't.
I love this - "I'm so cute and innocent!" Yeah right!
Rease with the crazy faces again.
She loves her bike and has learned to ride it down the grass hill with the nextdoor neighbor boys. She also plays with all the boy toys that are laying around between one neighbor or the other - swords, iron man masks, trucks, etc. We only have boy friends in the neighborhood aside from one cute little girl, Lacey, who Rease loves playing with too.
We love this weather - keep it up please so we can keep playing outside!

Building a Castle

Rease wanted to build a castle for her princesses. She worked so hard on getting the blocks all lined up just like she wanted. The only thing she asked me to help her with was the stairs and the doorway. Everything else was all her doing.
The stairway up to the Grand Entrance.
And the princesses entering the ballroom.
The architect herself.
We added the flowers around the outside at the end - we decided a flower garden was the perfect touch that a Princess Castle needed.

Block Party 2010

Our sweet neighbor Gretchen puts together a neighborhood party every year. We helped get things set up this year and get the food all in order. We blocked off the parking stalls right next to our house and had the barbecues and tables set up there for the food. Rease and Rhen were a big help as we were rinsing off the tables and chairs. Undies are the best way to go in this case since they were getting their clothes soaked. We ended up having a good turnout of neighbors and friends.
We invited Hayley and Caleb to come eat with us.
And Josh was in charge of the meat - it turned out being delicious.
Gretchen has some friends that play in a band and she hired them for the night. They played some fun songs and it was a good addition to the night.
Rhen loves Uncle Caleb - or "Bubba" as he is called.
It was a great end of summer party and we had so much good food and fun with all our neighbors and friends!

Washing the bike

One day as Josh was washing our car, Rease decided she needed to wash her ride too. She took the hose and spent some time getting her bike all clean and shiny.

Josh is so good at keeping our cars clean - maybe this is a good sign that Rease will be the same way!

Funny Faces

Rease loves making crazy faces for the camera. This particular night, she had Aunt Hayley and Uncle Caleb join in the crazy fun!
What a girl!

Just reading

Rhen has started to love reading. Of course, she can't really read, but she sure acts like she can. I caught her on the rocking chair one day just reading away.
Doesn't she look like she's really into it?

I love these quiet moments we get to sneak sometimes - not too often with Rhen around - but moments like this are so sweet to catch her in.

Keep up the reading girl!

The bird's nest - Rease

We had some squirrels dig up all our bulbs in our front flower bed this summer. I'm not too sad about it cause our tulips haven't been doing great for a couple years so we were going to do something about them anyway. Thanks to the squirrels, we don't have to do anything now! Rease thought that the holes they left in the bed were bird's nests. I found her putting some wrappers in one of the holes one day and asked her what she was doing. She said "I'm just helping the birds so they have a soft nest to sleep in."

Yes Rease that fruit snack wrapper does look very soft to sleep on.

And the wipe? That's a blanket for the birds.
She was so concerned that the wrappers and wipes kept disappearing from her "nest." I think the squirrels were carrying them off and she didn't know what to do when she found the nest empty over and over. What a crazy girl!

Garage Sale

Josh and I decided that we needed to dejunk our house and get rid of some of the extra stuff that we weren't using. My mom has a garage sale almost every year so we decided to join up with her and sell our stuff. Hayley and Caleb and Justin and Steph put their stuff together too and between all of us we had quite a load for the garage sale. We spent a few days getting our stuff marked and ready and this is a picture of what mom's driveway looked like just as the day was starting.
Rhen helping Aunt Hayley.
Rease was in charge of selling soda and water to the customers.
We ended up having a great turnout and sold so much of our stuff!
Rhen entertaining herself with the Blokus game. She had a diaper rash that week so we were trying to keep her diaper off to let it air out. It was so sore though that she wouldn't put her bum down on anything - this is the position she found most comfortable for her bum.
After it was all over, this is what we ended up with. We were so happy with all that we sold and in the end, Josh and I ended up making over $700! Sweet!

Locked up

Rease found a bungee in our garage and was playing with it. Later I saw it on her bike this this. I asked her what she was doing and she said "I'm just locking up my bike so no one takes it."
Safe and sound - I don't think it's going anywhere!
