Christmas 2016

We had such a fun Christmas this year and it was even sweeter having our Grammie and Papa Beutler home from their mission!  They joined us for Christmas Eve and all the festivities.  We hold a pretty typical Beutler Christmas Eve complete with french dip sandwiches, caroling to neighbors and reading the Christmas story together.  We took some extra time this year and talked with the kids about the meaning of Christmas and how we have been trying to serve others this season.  I know they are small and their attention spans are short - but they did a pretty good job talking and listening about the story of Jesus' birth before it was off to bed waiting for Santa to come.  I love these pjs this year - it makes them all looks like little elves!  One of the kids' favorite traditions is sleeping together in one room on Christmas Eve and talking late into the night about who can stay up late enough to see Santa.  Rease and Rhen designated their room to be the gathering place and they had a bed laid out for each of the boys.  So cute and fun for them to enjoy the time together!
Christmas morning arrived with some sleepy eyes but these kids were excited to see that Santa had actually come!  The line up at the top of the stairs is typical and so is the whining that comes from the oldest that she has to wait until last to come down the stairs...

But they all finally made it down the stairs and to their presents under the tree.  We keep Christmas morning pretty simple and have the kids take turn opening gifts so we can all watch.  It makes for a longer morning for everyone but much more fun so that we can all see what each of the kids are opening and their reactions to their gifts.  So fun!  The highlight gifts this year:
Rease - the box set of Series of Unfortunate Events books, new clothes and a new beanie boo
Rhen - A huge beanie boo named Olive and the Magic Treehouse books
Liev - New ski clothes and pirate swords
Keen - Matchbox cars, a new ski hat and a beanie boo named La La
Beck - A color puzzle and a basketball hoop to hang on the door
Mom - Squatty potty, ski gloves and lights to go under our bed
Dad - Ski pants and a hobo roll for camping
What a fun Christmas day we had!  After presents we had a quick breakfast and then got ready for church.  It's always fun when Christmas day falls on a Sunday so we can celebrate by really remembering our Savior and the reason for the season.  Merry Christmas to you all!
