Citrus Pear for the men

The Losee women got an early surprise Mother's Day gift this year.  We each got a freezer full of meals made special by our sweet husbands who spent an evening at citrus pear making freezer meals for us.  It was such a fun gift and a great idea!  I think they had fun making them too!

Coloring

My kids have all loved to draw and color and especially at this age.  Desh and Beck spend lots of time laying right on the floor coloring their pictures with their coloring sets.  Love these moments.

Dad night

The boys love when it's "dad night" and tonight was no exception.  Josh took them to play pickle ball at the courts in Bluffdale.  As you can see it was fun and crazy just like it always is with these 4 wild animals!

Hale Center Theater

We had a fun girls night out celebrating Aubrey's 40th birthday!  We saw Matilda at Hale Center Theater and, as always, they did a great job.  It was fun to get out and get away with fun friends!

Note to the office ladies

I was in the office at the elementary school this week and talking with a couple of the ladies I noticed this note hanging up on the wall next to them.  I thought I recognized the handwriting so I looked a little closer and, sure enough, it was from my sweet Rhen.  She had written this to them and dropped it off for them to find.  I love this girl and her thoughtfulness and I hope this is a quality she never loses!

Nachos

Nachos are one of our favorite Sunday after church snacks.  And it's been so nice out lately these boys couldn't wait to eat outside.

Easter Week

Easter week is one of our very favorite times of the year.  We love that we can celebrate and learn about our Savior all week long.  The kids have been looking forward to it and love the chance to teach each other parables, act out the cleansing of the temple, make their passover sheep, draw pictures and remember why and how much we love Jesus for what he did for each of us.  It is such a special week for us and something we look forward to every year.  May we keep this spirit in our home at all times and remember Him on this Easter Sunday!

The Worm

Desh worked really hard in the yard with us today and was rewarded with a fun new friend.  He kept telling me that he found a "baby snake" and I guess that description fits!

Crumbl

We have fallen in loved with the warm, delicious cookies that are served at Crumbl the local gourmet cookie shop.  Doesn't this amazing box of cookies look to die for?!  They don't last long at our house that I can guarantee.

Boston Marathon

This year I crossed an item off my bucket list - I ran the Boston Marathon!!  It was one of the coolest things I've ever done, by far, hands down, my favorite race of all time.  Not because I got a PR, and not because it was perfect weather, because neither of those were true.  I found out that running the Boston Marathon is an experience in itself, and I wanted to take in every second of it!
We are lucky to have Chad and Britt in Boston so we were able to stay with them which was super fun.  We had a few days before the race to sight-see and wander around the city - so we did.  We caught a Red Sox game, went to the temple, got a treat at Mike's Pastry, and ate at a delicious pizza joint that was small and loud but sooo good!  The best part about being downtown was seeing all the excitement that everyone had for the upcoming marathon.  It is a big event for Boston and there were signs everywhere welcoming runners and wishing us all good luck.  It was pretty great to see!
The day before the race we spend some time at the expo getting my number and buying a famous Boston marathon jacket.  It was so fun to be around all those 30,000 runners and their families and feel the excitement of the upcoming race.  I was almost in tears when they handed me my number and wished me luck the next day.  Such a cool moment to actually be holding a race number for the Boston Marathon!
Like I said, the weather was not what I would have picked for race day.  I had been watching the weather channel all week and as race day got closer and closer, it looked like the big storm that was making its way to the east coast was going to hit Boston on the morning of Marathon Monday.  What?!?! I woke up early Monday morning to loud cracks of lightning and rolling thunder outside.  Not to mention the rain that was pouring down.  This is the radar that morning - sure enough the storm had landed and was making things wet and cold.  I had prepared for it so I had enough warm clothes with me, but still it was not what I had wanted.  Nothing I could do about it now.
I was in wave 3 which was actually kind of nice because we didn't start until 10:50 am.  I got up and took my time getting a small breakfast, stretching and getting all my gear ready to go.  As the morning went on, the rain did start to ease up a little and I was a little hopeful that we would have some partially dry moments during the race.  Chad and the rest of the family were planning their spots to watch along the way and figure out the best way to get downtown to watch the finish line.  And Josh and I left to get to the starting line.
I always get butterflies in my stomach before a race.  Today was no different and I was pretty nervous as we headed to the start.  But mostly I was just excited to be a part of it all.  Josh dropped me off and I walked to the Athlete's Village to wait and get ready to run.  The village has huge tents set up for the runners to get ready and stay dry and warm before it was time to run.  I found some ponchos that had been thrown away and wrapped them around my feet to keep them dry and mud free and sat down for a while before wave 3 was called.  I loved being there and taking it all in.  So many different runners around but I felt like we all had that one thing in common that day and that was pretty cool.  As we waited the rain slowly went away and the sky became just overcast.  It was a miracle and I was so happy to see that at least for the starting line, we would be dry!  As they called our wave, we walked towards the starting line and all I could see in front of me and behind me were runners...and more runners.  It was an incredible sight.  So many people running and I was right there with them!
The race itself was so awesome.  A friend of mine that has run this before told me to just enjoy the race and take it all in.  So that's what I did!  The course is lined with spectators cheering us all on - the whole 26 miles!  There was not one spot that was empty the whole race and it was so fun to see all the signs, people and runners that were around  me.  Chad and his boys stopped at 3 different spots along the course and I looked forward to seeing them every time I knew they were close.  It was such a motivator for me!  I struggled right along with everyone else on Heartbreak Hill and smiled at all the girls from Wellesley College offering free kisses to any runner that was willing to stop.  I felt proud to be apart of the "Boston Strong" crowd and loved every sign that reminded us that we are strong together.  Around mile 24 just as I was making my way into town, it started to sprinkle.  Just 2 miles to go and the weather had, in fact, turned out to be perfect.  With a little rain coming as I was nearing the finish line, I couldn't help but feel so much gratitude for the chance I had to be a part of this cool event.  I knew my family was waiting for me at the finish line and I leaped for joy when I saw them!  Once again, the tears came and I was so happy to be done and have done it!  The Boston Marathon was officially crossed off my list!

As always, I owe a lot to my cheering section and my support team for the time they helped me prepare for this.  Josh is patient as ever and is always so proud of me when I get done with something hard like this.  I am so grateful for him.
What a cool day and one I will never forget.  Who knows if I'll ever make it back here, but for now I'm just so glad to be able to say "I've run the Boston Marathon."

Rhen's notes

Rhen is the most thoughtful girl. She left Josh and I each a note on our pillows tonight just to say I love you.

Cinnamon Toast

Anyone want a piece of toast with that cinnamon and sugar?
This is breakfast every morning for each of my boys.  Good grief.

Liev Principal's Pride

Liev was chosen for the Principal's Pride award and is very deserving of it!  He has worked really hard this year and especially loves math.  He has almost passed off his multiplication and division facts which is impressive for a 2nd grader!  Good job Liev!

Cub Scouts

Liev just started cub scouts after he turned 8 and has had such a fun time going to den meetings and pack meetings.  I love this of all these cute boys saying the scout motto and taking it so seriously.  Liev received his Bobcat today as well and I got a mom pin to go along with his.  Love this bobcat of mine!

Broken Arm

It seems like Liev was just cleared for full activity after his last accident and here we are back at the hospital for another round.  He was messing around with Keen in the hammock this morning before school and low and behold - broken arm.  Ugh here we go again.  4 weeks without riding his bike or scooter again might help with wisen up for the future.

Ice Bath

Just a few weeks away from marathon day so that means ice baths are in full swing at our house!  I try and take an ice bath after any run longer than 12 miles and, though it really really sucks for those 7 minutes, it has become worth it to me because it helps so much with the soreness.  So it looks like the ice bath tradition will continue on!

Coloring

Just like his brothers and sisters that have come before, this little man loves to color and draw.  He has his own coloring set and drags it out of the closet often to draw his masterpiece of the day.  I love watching him grow up and want to be just like the others.

The Zoo

I was one of the lucky moms that got to accompany the 1st graders to the zoo today for their fieldtrip.  It turned out to be a cold and rainy day so we did our best to split the time between the indoor exhibits and the outdoor ones when it was a little dryer.  The kids did great and we only had a couple criers for a few minutes during the day.  Mostly though we loved seeing the lions, snakes, apes, giraffes and every other creature that we passed.  And I loved being with Keen who is one of the kindest kids around and a friend to all.  Thanks for letting me be your mom!

Battle of the Books

It's Battle of the Books time!  And aside from the furious reading that has been going on, there has also been so serious costume planning.  Rease's team decided on the Willy Wonka theme and Rease was Willy Wonka himself and the others Oompa Loompas.  They look so cute and represented the chocolate factory well!

Sky on Fire

Our kitchen window is the perfect place to watch the sunrise - and we have some of the best ones in the world I believe.  This morning it looked like the sky had caught on fire!  And with those snow capped mountains it was a gorgeous sight.

Kiddos

We love to visit Grammie and Papa Beutler and it always seems that the kids end up in the big tree in the front yard whenever we're there.  I love each of these kids for so many reasons and can't get enough of being their mom.  Mostly I love that this picture captures their love for adventure, unity and for heaven sakes look how that tree is filled up with all 6 of them!!!

Two Things

Desh has two great loves in this world.
1) His Milk.  He sucks on that cup of milk like he is a drunk.
2) His red shoes and he is so proud to show them to anyone and everyone.
I'm not sure what a day would look like for Desh without those two things.  It would be a very dark day indeed if one of them were lost...

Piano Competition

Rease and Rhen have been practicing so hard for quite a few months for their piano competition.  Each of them have two songs that have been practiced and memorized and practiced again to make perfect.  They are judged during their songs by three judges and then given a rating and a score.  We had to wait 2 weeks for the scores but I knew before we received them that the girls each got a Superior.  They both played their pieces almost perfectly and so beautifully!  It was a big accomplishment for them to work hard and see the benefits of that hard work.  They have both become such talented piano players and I know they will continue to progress as the years go on!
