Rease turns 4!

June 6th we celebrated Rease's 4th birthday! She requested an Ariel birthday so that's what we did. Here are the highlights of her big day!

I decided that Ariel lived in Hawaii, so we turned Rease's Ariel birthday party into a Hawaiian Luau. It worked out that way because my mom had all the stuff for a luau and donated it to our birthday cause! We had everyone wear straw hats, grass skirts and leis to celebrate. Rease was so excited to get all her gear on!

And Rhen just went to town with the leis.

All of Rease's favorite people were there - Grammie, Aunt Hayley, Uncle Justin...
Aunt Steph...

Our dear friends, the Holts...

Grammie and Papa Beutler, Uncle Andy, our friend Ladd..

and many others. Thanks everyone for making this day awesome for her!

She opened gifts and got so many great things, including a new Ariel to take in the pool with her and an Ariel swimsuit. It was all princess for this girl.

Cake time! I went out on a limb and decided to make it a real Ariel party by making a Little Mermaid cake. Rease was happy with it, so that's what matters!

Rhen had to help out with the candles.

After presents and cake, everyone jumped in the pool. As you can see, Ariel joined Rease and Greg in the pool.
And Josh and Rhen enjoyed the hottub.

Happy Birthday to our girl! We love you!

Wrestling

I sent Rease and Rhen out to play one afternoon. A little while later this is how I found them. Wrestling on the front grass with no clothes on. What in the world?

I couldn't figure out where their clothes were...
Just hanging out on the tree!

Happy Father's Day

Rease and Rhen drew pictures for Josh for Father's Day. Rease is getting really good at writing things and she insisted on doing these for her dad.

This is Rhen's pictures. She is in the heiroglyphic stage of writing.
The kids sure love their daddy! And why wouldn't they? Josh is such a great dad and we are lucky to have him as our man!

Happy Father's Day!

Family pics

The family got together at Ty and Whitney's when they blessed Baby Lella. We decided to grab a picture since we don't all get together too often. What a handsome bunch!

I wanted a picture of our family so Josh and I grabbed the kids for a quick shot. We ended up having mostly not-so-good ones...

Why is it so hard to get a decent picture? Oh well, this one will have to do (even though Rease and Liev are not looking at the camera and Rhen is more interested in what she has in her hand than in the camera.)

Our family...we love our crazy kids!

Mom and Dad's Daybreak House

My mom and dad are building a house in Daybreak. My brother Chad who lives in Sweden has requested some pictures of the progress of the house. So here you go Chad and Britt! This is the house so far.

Josh, dad and the girls drove out and took pictures of the lot the night before they started digging. There lot is a corner lot that was originally planned for a park. Mom happened to be driving around out there the same week they changed it to a residential lot and she snagged it up. It's a great location - just down the road from the Oquirrh Mountain Temple and the Daybreak lake is just a block away.

The next morning the trucks were there and already working.

They dug the hole that day.

Just two days later mom was out there again and saw that they had started pouring the footings.

So that's the house so far! We haven't been out for a couple days but we will try and get some more pics when we can.

Bee Swarm

One afternoon Josh came running into the house and said he had something to show me outside. So he took me out to the tree in our front yard and showed me this...

We had a bee swarm in our tree!

It was the craziest thing to see so many bees all in one place. Josh found a bee keeper online and called him to see if he would help us out.

About a half hour later he showed up in his bee suit and was ready to take the bees from us. It took him about 45 minutes to get all the bees inside this box and bees were flying everywhere! I have to admit I was a little creeped out! But this guy had a lot of good information he passed on to us while he was working. He said that in a swarm like this there are about 15,000-20,000 bees! I couldn't believe there were that many! He also said that he has had a lot of calls about bee swarms in the last month or so. He told us that a lot of people lately have been buying bee swarms so that they could make their own honey, but then aren't educated on how to take care of the swarm as it gets bigger. So if the bees aren't in a big enough place or aren't taken care of then the whole swarm takes off and finds a new place. This particular swarm chose our front tree as their new home! Anyway, this guy was happy to have our bees. He packages and sells the honey that his bees make and was glad to add another swarm to his collection. We were very grateful too to have them out of our tree.
