First Snow

It seems like the first snow came early this year. We woke up one morning to 5 inches on our cars, grass and roof. We woke the girls up and they were so excited to see snow out their window.
I went to work and Josh told me that he let the girls play in the snow. In my mind that meant that he bundled them up in coats, hats, gloves, boots all. It wasn't until I saw the pictures later that he let them out like this - just halfway bundled in jammies and hats and boots.
They didn't seem to mind!
Rhen's hat was too big for her and she couldn't keep it out of her eyes.
Josh said she couldn't see where she was going and ran right into the car a couple of times!
Rhen loved the snow.
Even when she fell down with no gloves on.
Rease is a pro in the snow and tromps around without getting cold. She is much unlike her mother (who hates snow and cold!)
Rhen must have finally started to get cold and fed up with it.
But they ended the snow day with a hug!
The snow didn't last long but we know there will be plenty more to come!

Too big for the crib - Rhen

Rhen has just recently started crawling out of her crib. I couldn't believe it the first time Josh told me he found her because Rease never crawled out of hers ever. We moved her to a big girl bed before she had ever gotten out of the crib. So in my mind, Rhen should be the same way, right? I thought we were still a couple months away from moving her to a bed, but now it looks like we are going to have to think about it sooner. Crazy, reckless girl!
I tried to get a picture of her getting out, but this is the best I could get. Plus I didn't want to see her fall so I helped her out before she could hurt herself.

BYU games 2010

My dad has season tickets to the BYU football games. We love going whenever there are enough tickets. This year we decided that Rease is old enough to go with us and we've taken her to a couple of the games. She loves going and "cheering for the BYU cougars."
I bought her a hat and let her pick out which one she wanted - this is the one she decided. Nerermind that BYU does not have black and pink in their colors - this is the only one she wanted to have, so that's what we got.
We had to pack a few toys along to keep her entertained - Princesses at a football game? Why not!
Eating pizza before the game starts.
And what's a football game without taking a picture by the cougar?
We have a patient at the office that works for BYU. He let us onto the field before the game one time and we got to watch the players warm up - it was really cool and fun to see.
This is one of my favorite fall-time traditions - thanks to dad we usually make it to all the home games. And I love that Rease is now old enough to go with us!

Peek-a-Boo

These are some other pictures I found on the camera a few days after they were taken. They are some of my favorite pictures of Rhen and totally show her personality. Peek-a-boo. What a classic game and oh so cute playing it from her highchair!
What a sweet girl!

Kissing game

Rease and Rhen love playing around the railings going down our stairs. Their favorite game is the "kissing game" when they give kisses in between the bars.
The trick is to be the first one there to give a kiss!
They love kisses and don't mind giving them to each other!

Bed Head - Rhen

Let me tell you a little bit about Rhen's hair.
It's a crazy mess most of the time.
It's super blonde.
It's soft around her face but rough and matted in the back.
Her bangs are long enough to fall into her eyes but not long enough to tuck behind her ears.
She has the worst bedhead of anyone I know.
In short, it's a mess!
Take a look at these pics and see for yourself.
I don't know what to do with it most of the time, so if you catch us right after she wakes up or if I just haven't had time to tackle it yet, this is what you'll see!

Potty - Rhen

Rhen is at the age where she can tell us when she is going potty in her diaper. She'll stand there for a minute and then say either, "pee pees" or "poopie." So one time after she told Josh that she was going "pee pees" he decided to sit her on the toilet and she what she would do.
Nothing came of it, but it looks like she had a fun time!

Curlers - Rhen

Rhen's hair is barely long enough to put into curlers. And she has crazy enough hair that makes me crazy trying to figure out what to do with it - so one Sunday I decided curlers were the solution to the mess. She actually sat very nicely while I put them in - I sat her on the counter in my bathroom and let her put her feet in the sink. I turned the sink on just a tiny bit and gave her some toys to play with while I worked on her hair - worked like a charm.
One of the only ways to get Rhen to really smile for the camera is to tell her to show us her teeth. This is the face she pulls.
After I put the curlers in, I laid her down for a nap. Miraculously they stayed in while she slept and didn't seem to bother her much. I took them out right before church. So cute!
It turned out adorable! I need to do this more often!

Snug as a bug

Josh thought it would be funny to roll Rhen up in a blanket and see if she could get herself out. Of course she couldn't get out on her own, but why not try? At first she didn't seem to mind.
Then she did mind!
Of course, not wanting to be outdone, Rease wanted a turn.
Snug as a bug in a rug!
Rhen took advantage of Rease's vulnerable position and jumped on top of her.
Hugs!
They are such fun sisters!

Bride - Rease

Grammie has a bride dress that she pulled out of her dress-up box one day. Rease fell in love with it and now there isn't a trip to Grammie's that goes by without Rease putting the dress on at least once. Grammie of course adds to it and puts make-up on for Rease to make the outfit "complete." What a pretty bride!

Goodbye Element!

With Baby Liev on the way and as we are quickly becoming a family of 5, Josh and I have settled on the fact that we need a bigger car. Our Element is like a part of the family now, so to think about selling it made us sad. But we knew it had to come one day, so we took some pictures, cleaned it up and put it on KSL. 24 hours later, we are taking this last picture with the car that Josh lovingly calls "Easton" and watching it drive away.

It all happened so fast that we didn't have time to process the fact that we are down to one car (which happens to be the '99 Jetta and is a gem in itself.) As I'm writing this, I'm thinking about how we will work it all out; Josh drives me to work in the morning (wherever that ends up being for the day) or he is stuck at home with 2 toddlers and no car (which means no escape to the gym or Grammies for an hour or two.) I have a feeling we will find a new car within a few weeks, but for now we are a one car family. As for our precious Element - thanks for being a great car these 4 years. We love you and know you are headed to another great home!
